Analysing Zog´s book



Zog it’s a book from the creators of The Gruffalo, another fantastic story for children.

Zog is a dragon at Dragon´s school where he will live lots of aventures. Zog is a little dragon which children can feel identify.

I think that its a great story for using with children. The pictures are wonderful so child won´t feel lost, because if there is something they could not understand the pictures will help them a lot.
Maybe if we want to use this book for teaching english to young learners we should adapt some written parts, to make them more simple so children can be able to understand the story in  a better way.


Zog´s book is written in rhyming verse, using not very difficult ones, wich makes the story more funny for children. This can also help children to develop phonics skills.
Also we can use this book to teach other preschool lessons, considering that Zog will be a very motivating character for them.



Charlie and the chocolate factory

We had make a reader from the book "Charlie and the chocolate factory", a great story for telling to young learners:



Charlie Bucket is a little boy who lives with his family in a tiny and poor house. 



In his home there are only two rooms and one bed for all of them.



Charlie´s father is the only one who has a job in his family. He works in a toothpaste factory. Charlie´s family  don´t have enough money to buy too much food,  they have always have for breakfast bread and margarine, 
for lunch: bailed potatoes  and for dinner: cabbage soup .The same everyday.


So all of them have a horrible empty feeling in their tummies. 

Charlie is very hard-working and he tries to help his family but the only thing that he 
desperately wants  is chocolate.

Every morning in the way to school he sees a huge Chocolate Factory and he can smell the chocolate.


On his birthday, the only thing he wants was a chocolate bar. 



His grand-father bought a chocolate´s tablet for Charlie´s birthday and all the family were eating it during the week.

Surfing the Internet we can obtain many information resources, tools, advices, recommendations etc, in which we can find a great support and help while we prepare practical activities for the classroom.
Below, I propose some web sites with quite interesting resources.





In this page we can find many interactive activities to learn English, directly for younger pupils. We also have the option of writing cards, letters, to do puzzles and optionally to send them by e-mail.




This is the British Council web site, where we can also find numerous tools which we can work with in English: games, reading and writing activities, videos, songs, stories etc. In addition we can also find tools and sources for working in special dates like: Christmas, Halloween, etc.





In this page we can find many ideas and tools to teach English to the youngest students: songs, links to other web pages with other resources, videos in which some teachers give advices to other colleagues about teaching English…

BLOG PRESENTATION:






In the last years in Spain, English as a second language has become very fashionable in early education, in order to achieve that the pupils become totally bilingual. For this reason, the early learning of English in the school context, is increasingly common.

Nevertheless, English during early children education is not so common in other European countries, in which foreign languages are often developed in primary education.

As future Infants Education and, due to the importance that learning in English has nowadays,teachers we must have lots and different suitable resources in order to motivate and teach english to young learners.

In this English blog we will try to provide some ideas, resources, activities, materials...that we will see in the subjects of "English Didactics applied to the Infants Education" and "Narration and dramatization in English language".
